Mechanical Engineering Technician

Position Summary

KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician. The qualified applicant will become an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts. In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with the engineering team to provide hands-on support for prototype builds, integration, testing and validation of sensor systems, and the general maintenance of vehicles and the lab environments. You will have ownership and responsibility for overseeing aspects of prototype fabrication and low-rate production build providing technical support and monitoring schedule status. You will assume responsibility for results-based deliverables in direct support of the company’s exciting initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work independently in the absence of supervision to assist the engineering or science team in the use, fabrication, installation and testing of complex prototypes, equipment, and samples in the shop and in the field.
  • Assist with the processing and maintenance of industrial grade 3D printers, including printed parts post processing and finishing.
  • Manage prototype lab facilities and equipment through acquisition, calibration, maintenance, and storage activities.
  • Fabricate equipment and/or develop and implement evaluation procedures for the testing of concepts and samples produced by the engineering/science team.
  • Fabricate metal and plastic components with machine shop equipment (drill press, band saw, CNC)
  • Work with the Engineering team to troubleshoot issues – electrical, mechanical, optical, electro- mechanical, firmware and software.
  • Conduct experiments in accordance with documented protocols
  • Troubleshoot equipment and fixtures in the shop and in the field where required.
  • Complete reports and summaries of work.
  • Read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Contribute to system architecture development, identifying design and production methods for the rapid and efficient development of new design concepts.
  • Ensure team focus on design goals and engineering quality.
  • Assist staff and initiate continuous improvement.
  • Follow OSHA safety protocols

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Associates/Technical/Trade/Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
  • Self-motivated, able to take responsibility, and a flexible attitude.
  • Automotive experience is preferred
  • Possess a willingness and ability to learn additional technical skills within the automobile, rail, and defense industries.
  • Technical knowledge of computers, electrical assembly, basic electronic troubleshooting, mechanical assembly and repair, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and audio-visual equipment operation.
  • Machine shop fabrication experience of metal and plastic components utilizing drill press, band saw, and/or programmable CNC.
  • Ability to read electrical / mechanical drawings, equipment manuals and technical specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess excellent troubleshooting skills to efficiently identify and resolve design and production issues during all phases of product research and development or during system installations. Familiar with document controls, revision control and change process.
  • Candidate should be well organized, detail oriented, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Senior Electrical Engineer

Position Summary

Duties & Responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (completed prior to start date) with 5+ years of industry experience
  • Experience with sensor interface systems, optical interfaces and equipment, communications equipment and systems, controls equipment, power conditioning and electrical distribution systems is desired
  • Proficiency in PCB and layout design (Altium preferred) including layer stack up, signal integrity analysis, power distribution, and designing for EMC robustness
  • Familiarity with traditional manufacturing methods and processes for electronic and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with automotive EMC design, test methods, and troubleshooting per CISPR25, ISO, and SAE standards
  • Experience with the design, analysis, and simulation of analog and digital circuits
  • Knowledge on the hardware design and engineering process, including board bring-up – prototyping, fabrication, assembly, and soldering
  • Proficiency with C/C++, MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW for automation and data processing is preferred
  • Experience with embedded software – writing software code, defining system architecture and troubleshooting is a plus

Research Associate

Position Summary

KEA Technologies, Inc., an engineering and R&D firm focused on the transportation industry, is currently seeking a Research Associate to join their Chemistry Group.

The qualified applicant will be highly motivated, enthusiastic about innovative R&D, and become an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team including scientists, engineers, and subject-matter experts. The Chemistry Group works on a wide array of application-driven research projects and performs standardized analysis services for external customers. The Research Associate will be responsible for executing research with a broad range of analytical chemistry techniques. They will have strong attention to detail and will be able to work under limited supervision and thrive collaborating with others. Senior Software Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Designing and integrating software packages for our hardware platforms, including operating systems, drivers, and supporting software infrastructure
  • Conducting trade-off analyses and benchmarking exercises to influence future system architectures
  • Defining processes on commissioning and testing Linux systems
  • Working directly with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to integrate systems into the vehicle
  • Working on embedded platform software in a Linux-based environment
  • Writing event-driven and asynchronous applications primarily in C and C++
  • Writing software that communicates with and controls other devices over interfaces including CAN, UART, I2C, SPI and others

Qualifications & Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ Years experience with the Yocto Project.,
  • Expert level C/C++ coding in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with cross-compiling applications on arm architectures.
  • Experience with source control (Git, SVN or something similar).
  • Experience with Microcontrollers.
  • Experience with developing or customizing board support packages (BSP).
  • Significant experience developing and maintaining board support packages (BSP) for a variety of embedded devices.
  • Strong knowledge and applied skills with Linux operating systems, including OS internals and associated tools and libraries for developing, debugging, and testing complex software systems.

Finance Clerk

Position Summary

KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Finance Clerk. This is an entry level position.The qualified applicant will become an integral member of multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and support the following areas: finance, procurement, and administration.The Finance Clerk is responsible for supporting the Company’s Littleton, Massachusetts headquarters and an affiliate company in Hopkinton.The Finance Clerk is responsible for transactional support of the finance department including some accounts receivable, accounts payable, procurement, assisting with audit, purchasing and other general administrative related tasks. This position will report to the Senior Accountant Analyst.

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create customer invoices, respond to customer invoicing inquiries, and assist with monthly billing making sure appropriate backup is pulled to the customer’s specifications.
  • Assist with filing, copying, and scanning materials for external audit with possible ad hoc work during audit as required.
  • Review purchase order requisitions for accuracy, correct account coding and delegation of authority.
  • Train and direct staff as needed on correct purchase order inputs.
  • Scan, code and process accounts payable vouchers.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries.
  • Enter in vendor invoices into the accounting system including performing a three-way match of purchase orders, receivers and vendor invoices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 0 – 4 Years Accounting Experience (QuickBooks & NetSuite experience strongly preferred. Other accounting system / ERP experience acceptable).

Senior Project Manager

Position Summary

KEA Technologies, Inc. (KEA) is currently seeking a technical Senior Project Manager to join our Team in Littleton, MA. This person will become an integral member of our multi-disciplinary team including project managers, engineers, chemists, data analysts, human factors, and technical subject-matter experts.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, direction, and oversight to the technical team by working very closely with the engineering discipline leads and the Engineering Director to execute project scope. The Senior Project Manager will lead internal and external status meetings, track and manage assigned projects, and communicate directly with our Customers, Subcontract Vendors and Component Suppliers. In conjunction with KEA and Customer management teams, s/he will develop, administer, and coordinate work plans to ensure completion of all tasks with timeliness, accuracy, efficiency, effectiveness - within budget and schedule. This position requires experience in engineering / technical disciplines in this preferred order: electrical, optics, mechanical, software, electronics, products development, and chemistry.The Senior Project Manager must have experience in research and development, technical proficiencies, engineering and design, strong management, and communications skills; and is preferred to have experience in systems engineering as well as new and emerging product launch. This position is nearly entirely in-office (at KEA HQ in Massachusetts) with limited remote/virtual work opportunity and may require periodic domestic or international travel (estimated not more than 5-10%) for meetings or conferences.

Duties & Responsibilities

This position reports to the Director of Programs and directly supports the Engineering Department. Responsibilities include:Lead projects that are heavily focused on product design, development, launch, sustainment, and maintenance service support.

  • Lead projects by applying project management principles and best practices in the development, initiation, planning, execution, control and closing of programs/projects.
  • Creating presentation slides and materials for various audiences from executive leadership to highly technical subject matter engineering experts and presenting the materials at meetings.
  • Communicate milestones and critical path activities effectively, while delineating responsibilities and managing risks.
  • Participate in, lead and/or convene preliminary, interim, and critical/final design review meetings.
  • Develop or follow previously developed budget and scheduled projects including communicating the status, action items, and milestones for assigned projects.
  • Develop new, improve interim, or follow existing quality control & management processes.
  • Lead or provide significant support for product development through manufacture, launch and release.

  • Provide technical, engineering and business process expertise to the KEA and Customer teams on various project elements (such as recommendations, risks, alternatives, priorities, issues, etc.).
  • Lead or assist in coordinating with external vendors and contractors to develop execution and management plans, designs, and technical proposals.
  • Support proposal development including proposal input, including detailed technical project descriptions, legal risk and responsibility definitions, financial descriptions, and detailed supporting documentation of contractor quotes, and cost and savings options for leadership consideration.
  • Identify and resolve potential complications or conflicts within the assigned project(s) and across all KEA projects and develop solutions for resolution.
  • Facilitate appropriate escalations and initiate collaborative issue resolution among stakeholders.
  • Present oneself and KEA to the Customer and project stakeholders in a professional manner.

Qualifications & Requirements

Must:

  • Possess a technical Bachelor’s degree (electrical, electronics, mechanical, chemical, industrial, physics).
  • Minimum of five years of experience as the lead project manager on technical engineering, research, product development, services / products / full life cycle projects.
  • Must have a strong technical background with understanding of technology research & development (R&D) and new products development (NPD).
  • Must have experience with low-rate initial production (LRIP), full production, assembly, contract manufacturing, and product testing.
  • Must have excellent organizational, scheduling, time management and planning skills.
  • Must be trained with experience (certified PMP preferred) in structured project management including phase gate process, new product development process tools, change management tools, supplier engagement and selection.
  • Must have experience with PLM software (Agile, Arena, other) and project management tools and methodologies.
  • Must have knowledge of performance measurement tools and metrics.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment.
  • Must have strong quality management, quality systems, and documentation capabilities.
